Teriyaki Steak Strips!

I grew up just outside of Boston and every time we got Chinese food, we always got teriyaki steak. (yeah, I know it's Japanese, but they always have it at the Chinese restaurants up there) I don't know if it was just popular with my family or just more popular in general up there. But down here in Pittsburgh I don't hear much about it. Plus I guess I haven't really found any Chinese food that I 'really' like down here.

Anyway... last week I decided I wanted to try to make it myself. I picked up some round steak that was cut thin for sandwiches. I cut that into strips and put it along with some teriyaki sauce into a FoodSaver container, sealed and put it in the fridge for a few hours.

This was also a chance to try out the new cast iron grill/griddle that my sister gave me for Christmas. So as soon as the steak went into the fridge, I started seasoning my new pan. =)

We've been eating healthier, so instead of making a giant batch of fried rice, I opted to a giant batch of stir fried fresh veggies!

Let me tell ya... dinner totally ROCKED!!! The Teriyaki Steak was just like from Kowloon!! YUM!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Teriyaki Sauce
1/2 C soy sauce
6 TBLS orange juice
2 TBLS lime juice
1/4 C brown sugar
1.5 - 2 inches ginger root, grated
2 - 3 cloves of garlic, grated
pepper to taste
Whisk it all together and put your meat in it. =)
Now for vaccum sealing! Then into the fridge.
Fast forward several hours.... I took the meat out of the marinade.
And heated it to a good boil for a few minutes, so I could use some in my veggies.
Everything's cooking!
Those thin little steak strips cook up fast!
Teriyaki rules, I didn't realize it wasn't a big thing everywhere. Whatever, those look wicked good. :)
That looks awesome. I wish I had stopped at your ouse to see if I could snag dinner on my way home (walked, since the busses weren't moving). Will you post the veggie recipe too? (please) :)
There really isn't a recipe... I just cut up some broccoli, mushrooms, onions, peppers added snap peas and stir fried them in a hot pan. I used a smidgey of garlic oil (I'm out of sesame oil) or you could use chili oil or just plain would be fine too... and then I spooned in a couple of spoons of the teriyaki sauce.
