Margarita Jello Shots & Margarita Cake

These are always a BIG hit at my Cinco de Mayo parties and they're so easy to make!

Photobucket

They look like little cups of Nyquil!

This is all you need!

Plus some of these...

Margarita Jello Shots
2 cups boiling water
1 box lime jello
1 1/3 C tequila
2/3 C triple sec

Dissolve jello in boiling water.
Stir in tequila & triple sec.
Pour into little plastic cups.
Refrigerate until completely set.
Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I make this in my big 4 cup measuring cup, because it's easy to pour into little cups.
Photobucket
Completely dissolve jello in boiling water.
Photobucket
Add tequila & triple sec.
Photobucket
Pour into little plastic cups.
Photobucket
I put the little cups on a cookie sheet incase I spilled.
Photobucket
Now into the fridge.
I put them in a Tupperware container to help keep them safe from spillage in the fridge.
Photobucket
Oh yeah!! It's Margarita Jello Shot time!!!
Photobucket
I had to loosen them with a knife to be able to suck them out of the cup.
A little bit of work... but they're always fun!!
And on to the Margarita Cake!!
I actually posted this a while back. But I made them into cupcakes and frosted them.
Bake 26 to 31 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove to rack and glaze.
I made the glaze in a measuring cup that I could easily pour from to make glazing easier.
Whisk up the glaze.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Prick cake all over with a fork or toothpick and cover with glaze.
Pour glaze evenly over entire cake.
I bet everyone had a great time! Those cupcakes look so delicious and what better way to wash them down than with a margarita jello shot!
You know, I've never had a jello shot. Weird, huh? I would love a couple of those though. :)
What a great cake to make for Cinco De Mayo!!! (don't know if I spelled that right!)...can you taste the liquor in the cake?
Spryte said...
It does have a margarita flavor... but not really a liquor taste. My 16 year old said it has a tang to it!
Yummy! Love the shots! My margarita cupcakes were tangy too... not so much of a tequila taste to them. Your recipe is much different than mine!
Wow, the thought of jello shots immediately took me back to the first fraternity party I went to in college! If only those guys were as creative :-) Fun!
ok..how sad is this...I have never had a jello shot! They weren't around when I was doing the party rounds (waaaaaaay back when). Of course now that I know they come in "margarita" form....its on my list!
