It's that time of year again! Everyone is doing their holiday baking! Honestly, I'm a bit behind. I'm taking the day off tomorrow and plan to bake ALL DAY LONG!
Looking for something new to make? Well... I'm hoping at least a couple of these will be something new to some of you. Or maybe they'll just make you remember a long forgotten favorite!
This is a mix of old favorites and newer favorites that end up on my holiday cookie trays. Click the cookie names or the pictures to take you to the recipes.
I'll start with my favorite! (I think these are Whitney's favorite too!)
Thumbprint Cookies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are my mom's favorite. (well... they might not be her favorite, but of the cookies I make, they are her favorite!)
Swedish Tea Cakes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aren't these on everyone's Christmas Cookie Trays?
Peanut Butter Blossoms
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's not a Christmas Cookie Tray if it doesn't have Mum's Cut Out Cookies on it!
Mum's Cut Out Cookies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These were my cousin Tami's favorite. We miss you Tami.
Peppermint Kisses
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wish these were on my trays every year. But they only make them once in a while. They seem like a lot of work. But once you get to making them they really aren't.
They are my second favorite!
Swedish Tosca Cookies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is it really the holidays without these??
Rum Balls
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are a pretty new addition, but I LOVE the Toffee ChocoChip variation!
Icebox Shortbread Cookies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These are VERY popular with pretty much everyone who tries them. My mom has been making them for decades!
Rolo Cookies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also make what Mum calls Press Drop Cookies... I think they are Spritz Cookies to the rest of the world. But I've been having cookie press issues for the past couple of years. This year I have a new to me, vintage cookie press... and I might have an electric one. So stay tuned Press Drop Cookies!
What goes on your holiday trays?
Is there anything that doesn't go on your holiday trays?
Much to our friend Jeff's dismay, you will never find a chocolate chip cookie on mine. You also won't find oatmeal cookies or any other cookie that I would consider an everyday kinda cookie.
But I do try to try a new cookie every year too!
So what's baking for your trays?
I want a Rolo cookie and I want it RIGHT NOW!!
ReplyDeleteCoooookiieees! Oh man, those tosca cookies look so good. I remember wanting to make them when you posted them before.
ReplyDeleteI don't do any holiday baking myself, all of our friend are pretty scattered about. Although, now that I have a full sized oven...
Every single one of them looks absolutely delicious!!!! I admit I have a soft spot for those delectable Rolo Cookies... ;)
ReplyDeleteWkow I think most of these are new to me, I love the Rolo (my favorite candy) and the Tosca, I will have to give them a whirl.
ReplyDeleteI've started baking cookies but it's mainly for us only and they disappear as quickly as I make them. I still need to get some serious baking done.
ReplyDeleteI so want to try Rolo cookies, only I can't find Rolo candies here. I actually found something at Ikea today, but they're mint flavoured. Wonder how that would go with your recipe.
I'm with Bob, those tosca cookies look good-don't think I have seen those before! I make a couple different ones each year, but I too want to branch out this year and make a few different ones.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great! I usually try to experiment with several types of candies, truffles, and cookies, but this year I've been lazy. I've only made peanut butter blossoms. And that's all I might end up making. :)
ReplyDeleteI sure could go for a couple of those rum balls...with an extra shot of rum on the side...hee hee. they all look fantastic. I don't usually have a lot of time for tons of cookies so I try and do sugar cookies and let the girls decorate them. They say they don't want to, but if I make them and leave them (icing on the side) they always end up doing them and having fun LOL
ReplyDeleteI love this post. I might forward it to the members of my annual cookie exchange to give them so ideas.
ReplyDeleteI always make by request my chocolate peanut butter balls and peanut butter blossoms. I also try to make something new was well. I have not decided what that will be yet.
I want the Peppermint Kisses.. Wait, I'll have Rolo Cookies instead. Arrgh! I want all those cookies. They sure looks good. This gave me an idea on what to bake this Christmas. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great bounty of cookies! I love the rumballs and rollos especially.
ReplyDeleteOh Spryte, you do the BEST cookies! I usually end up doing all the classics, because everyone wants their favorite on the tray. But I am doing some new ones this year too.
ReplyDeletethe more i scroll, the more my mouth waters! pb blossoms are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI haven't begun baking yet, I seem to be getting further and further behind, sigh. I plan to mix up some roll out sugar cookies to bake with my granddaughter this weekend. Your cookies all look very very tempting!
ReplyDeleteThey all look good especially to someone who doesn't like to make cookies but still wants to eat (homemade) ones!
I need to get started making cookies too. I love cut out cookie and cookies filled with jam...all of your cookie pics look terrific. I'd love one of each to eat right now!
ReplyDeleteYour cookies all look fabulous! I'll be baking plenty this week, too, but I don't make near the variety that you do. I did promise Pete those peanut butter ones with the kisses on top. The frosted cut outs are his favorite, though.
ReplyDeleteHey Spryte..Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteYour cookies look great!
Hope all is well..come visit!
Merry belated Christmas! Hope you have a fabulous New year!
